All vehicles are at risk for tire damage. This probability is exaggerated the longer a vehicle owner goes without investing in a tire rotation. Due to daily usage, tires can become worn down at different rates and in different locations, depending on their position on the vehicle. Therefore, vehicle owners should remain diligent in inspecting their vehicles tires for any damage or wear and tear.

Different drive train setups call for different measurements of wear and tear and rotation types. While rear-wheel drive vehicle will experience less wear, all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive vehicles will need their tires rotated often. Each vehicle has its own preferred rotation pattern, which can be found in the vehicle owner manual.

While some individuals prefer to take their vehicle into a dealership service department or mechanic for a tire rotation, some are okay with completing this task at home. After lifting the vehicle, tires are removed, have their pressure checked, are rotated, and attached securely in their new positions.
